City Havana, the capital of Cuba, lies in the western part of the island. With more than 2 million inhabitants Havana is one of the largest towns in the Caribbean and has pleasant temperatures throughout the year. Many cinemas, theatres and concert halls make Havanna the cultural centre of the country. Numerous parks and tropical gardens and also the lively old town of Havana with lots of little bars and patios invite you to a visit.
School The Mirtha Aguirre School in Havana is a small and charming language school. The school was founded in 1993 and belongs to the Cuban Esperanto Society. The school is located in the district of Vibora, some 20 minutes by taxi from the old town of Havana.
Travel The easiest way to get to Havana is to fly there directly. Just ask your travel agent about good offers. Included in the price is the transfer by taxi from the airport to the school.
Accommodation You will stay in a double room on the school premises or even in a Cuban family close to the school (small surcharge, see fees!). Single rooms are available for a surcharge. Included in the price are breakfast and dinner. You can book lunch directly at the school in Havana. All the meals are taken at school, even if you stay with a family. Accommodation starts on the Sunday before the course starts and lasts until Saturday. Additional nights can be booked in advance without problem (see prices).
Leisure As there is no school on Fridays (Standard Course), you will have enough time to discover Havana on your own, meet Cubans, or just enjoy the Caribbean sun. In addition, the school has regular excursions to cities like Viñales, Trinidad, Santiago de Cuba.
For friends of the Caribbean music there will be regular salsa-workshops. You can book all these excursions directly at the school in Havana.
