Country In 1492, when Columbus landed in Puerto Rico for the first time, he found Taino-Indians. Unfortunatly, these have now disappeared and in the meantime Puerto Rico has developped itself into a modern melting-point of american and latinamerican culture. Specially in Puerto Rico's capital, San Juan, you can still find many buildings dating from the colonial times. The rest of the country is known for its attractive coastlines, coffee plantations, tropical rainforests and mountains in the interior of the country. As Puerto Rico belongs to the USA, the price level is comparable with the one from the US.
Climate The Climate in Puerto Rico is comparable with the one in Cuba or the Dominican Republic. The average temperatures are between 27°-30°C. Short and intensive rainfalls are common throughout the whole year. The rainy season is from May to October.
