Country Guatemala is one of the few countries in central America which still reflects a very strong Indian influence on culture and language. Surrounded by some still active volcanoes and tropical rain forests, the myths of the long past Mayas live on. Colourful costumes, lively markets, the typical art and craft lend the country a striking character. Around 10 million people live in Guatemala which only recently signed a peace treaty with the guerrilla movement.
