Country Ecuador is a small and politically stable country with a population of around 11 million people. Its size can be compared with Great Britain and it offers a multitude of contrasts. The warm Pacific coast, the peaks of the snow-covered Andes and the more tropical rain forest in the Amazon region. Last but not least: the Galapagos islands - one of the wonders of the world - are situated not quite two hours away from the mainland.
Climate Due to its situation near the equator and its varied regions, differing climates are to be expected. Hot in the coastal region, hot and humid towards the Amazon, early summer warmth on the Andes plateau around Quito. From January to May, an increase in rain is to be expected.
