| Country | The Dominican Republic lies in the
eastern part of the island Hispanola, sharing it with neigbour Haiti. The second
biggest country in the caribbean is very versatile and interesting. Here we find
the largest mountain of the caribbean, the Pico Duarte (3175 m high). Columbus
landed here in 1492 and made the island to one of the first centres of spanish
culture and law in Latin America. The Dominican Republic is nowadays very famous
for diving and bathing. |
| Climate | The
island has a mainly tropical climate. The hottest months are May to October (30
- 35 °), also being the rainy season with short and heavy rain showers. During
Winter, the climate is very pleasant (24 - 28 °). |
| Entry
regulations | For a stay of up to 90 days, travellers
from most western countries only require a passport valid for at least a further
six months. Details are available from the nearest embassy or from us. You also
need a tourist card which you can buy after arriving on the island or before you
leave. |
