Due to the political and economic stability this small central American country with its 3.4 million inhabitants is also called "Central America's Switzerland". Visitors are presented with an amazing variety: miles of black and white sandy beaches, lakes, mountains and plains, countless nature reserves, such as Monteverde Cloud Forest or Tortugero National Park, active volcanoes, such as the Arenal, swiftly flowing rivers for river-rafting. The "Ticos" - as the Costa Ricans are known- are a very friendly and happy people.
